31.05.2010Moldova increased wine exports by 21.7%
In the first quarter of the year, Moldova exported wine products on US$ 39.5 million, which is 21.7% more than in the first quarter of the last year.
According to the councilor of the agriculture and food industry minister, Petru Rotaru, wine products’ exports to the EU and CIS countries increased by 17%, while exports to USA, China and Israel increased by 2.5 times.
According to him, the increased export is a result of the wine and brandy export ban lift, as well as of state trademarks cancellation on the alcoholic beverages’ bottles.
"Besides, measures on de-monopolization and competition promotion among certification and testing laboratories were taken, and the certification tariffs decreased by 30%", said the councilor.
He also mentioned that possibilities like the annulment of the viticulture revival tax and transition to a different subsidizing mechanism of the branch are researched. Moreover, the problems with the Moldovan wines export are included in the agenda of the Moldo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Partnership.
